She is currently working as an administrative assistant while exploring her options for post-secondary education. Taryn is a personable and driven young woman who enjoys a challenge.
During her years in Nunavut Taryn has dedicated a significant amount of her time to the Nunavut Speed Skating Association- participating and volunteering with the club. Throughout Taryn’s speed skating career with the Nunavut Speed Skating Association she has earned multiple gold and silver medals. Taryn was given the opportunity to compete at the 2018 Arctic Winter Games representing Nunavut. In 2019 Taryn set territorial records at the Canada Winter Games.
Taryn has struggled with her mental health throughout her youth and found solace in sport. She understands the difference involvement in sports can make on a youths mental state and has decided to give back to her community through volunteer efforts with the Nunavut Speed Skating Association. Taryn is acting as a coach to help engage the community, facilitate the program and pass her knowledge on to the upcoming generation of speed skaters.
Taryn believes that youth in her community deserve every chance to have experiences many northern residents miss out on. Through Miss International Canada Taryn is looking to continue to act as a role model representing that anyone can succeed if they work hard- despite the obstacles.
